Founded
in 1964, John Jay College of Criminal Justice of The City
University of New York, is a liberal arts college which
emphasizes as its special mission criminal justice, fire
science, and other public service related fields. As such,
it is the only one of its kind in the nation.
The College
offers Associates and Bachelor’s degrees in Fire Science
as well as a Master’s degree in Protection Management,
combining fire science with security and safety. A concentration
in emergency management was added in Fall 2001.
The College
serves as a major center for research in criminal justice,
law enforcement, forensic
sciences, and fire and emergency services as a major
training facility for local, state, federal, international
law enforcement agencies, and private security personnel.
Its diverse

preprofessionals who plan careers in public service or
already are employed in public service.
The
professors and senior staff at John Jay represent a unique
assemblage of talented and experienced professionals who are
at the very top of their fields. The Lloyd George Sealy
Library is the leading criminal justice research library in
the United States.
The College

world leaders to discuss crime, drug abuse, violence, fire
policy, and to develop meaningful solutions to these
problems.
With a
renewed national focus on its mission, John Jay College is
committed to play a major role in determining how these
challenges are met in the twenty-first century.
